Gothic arches, turrets and "lace" give the building a medieval look, despite the fact that the New Town Hall began to be built at the end of the 19th century, and was completed and expanded already at the beginning of the 20th century. Figurines of gargoyles with astonishing accuracy imitate medieval ones, recalling the times of prosperity of Gothic cathedrals.

The architect is Georg von Hauberrisser. The area of the New Town Hall today is almost 10,000 square meters. m, the building has 400 rooms. The city council moved to a new building at the end of the 19th century.

Of particular interest to tourists is the 85-meter tower of the town hall, it has an elevator, and the Glockenspiel on the tower is a popular tourist attraction. Every day, at 11 o’clock, people wishing to listen to the clock fight gather at Glockenspiel, and in a special bay window 32 figures represent scenes from the legends of Munich.

On the same square is the building of the Old Town Hall, built in the 15th century. This is an example of true late Gothic. Today, a large part of the Old Town Hall Square is occupied by a toy museum.
