The Italians warned of a terrorist attack during the Olympics in Sochi

This morning, the Italian National Olympic Committee received an electronic message stating the threat of a terrorist act during the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

According to representatives of the Italian Olympic Committee, IOC and a number of countries received such letters, whose participants will go to the Olympics, the grand opening of which is scheduled for February 7, 2014. Nevertheless, the committee expressed the hope that the upcoming Olympic Games will be held at the highest level, and that the Russian authorities will take proper care of the safety of athletes from 105 countries.

The Olympic Committees of Hungary and Germany were also “informed” of the impending attack. For example, representatives of Hungarian athletes told reporters that they were strongly “recommended” to stay at home. The International Olympic Committee assured that the message that the three countries received did not contain a real threat, and also suggested that the message was the "work" of an unknown person with extremist views.

However, the IOC has previously argued that all threats to the National Olympic Committees are transmitted to law enforcement agencies for scrutiny.

The organizers of the Olympic Games in Sochi responded to the latest news by contacting representatives of Hungarian athletes. According to the agency, they already “know” in absentia with the sender of the threats: he had previously tried to disrupt the Olympics in Sochi. Last month, a number of American media outlets wrote about the possibility of terrorist attacks during the Olympic Games. They cited their own sources, which had information that North Caucasian militants would prepare terrorist acts.

A few weeks ago, data appeared on the Internet about the development by the United States of America of an evacuation plan for athletes in the event of a terrorist attack. Some informants suggested that the American authorities would send five planes to Sochi, which, in the event of a threat, could pick up athletes directly from the Olympic village.

Such measures, as journalists assure, were caused by recent terrorist attacks that occurred in Volgograd at the very beginning of January. Then about 30 people died, and more than a hundred were injured of varying severity.

Today it became known that the US FBI will send about 40 representatives to Sochi to help Russian special services ensure the safety of athletes and coaches. Russia, in turn, attracts about 37 thousand police, military and special services soldiers to Sochi. The US CIA suggests that the Russian authorities do not agree to be more open and let US agents enter Sochi because they do not want to admit that they cannot provide adequate security and safety measures during the Olympics.

Not so long ago it was reported that the United States was sending its ships to the Black Sea in case of an emergency and was looking for the so-called “black widow” - a woman whose husband, formerly a member of a terrorist group, had been killed by security services last year.

According to information owned by the United States, a Muslim woman intends to avenge the death of her husband by foiling the Olympics. There is another version, according to which four “black widows” are sent to Sochi, who can act as suicide bombers.

In the meantime, Italy’s national Olympic team is undergoing the last round of training before heading to Russia.

Earlier it was reported that at the honorary procession of athletes, which will be held during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, the flag of Italy will be double Olympic champion in luge Armin Zoggler (Armin Zoggler).

At the last winter Olympics, which was held in 2010 in Wakuver, Italian athletes managed to win only five medalsand the two-time Olympic champion in skiing, Giorgio Di Centa, acted as the standard bearer.
