Immigrants in Italy are happier than Italians

A recent survey showed that foreigners who came to Italy are actually much happier than the citizens of a sunny country.

According to a recent survey, 60.8 percent of foreigners rated their life in Italy from 8 to 10 points on a 10-point scale, while at the same time, only 37.2 percent of the country's inhabitants were equally satisfied. The Italian national statistical agency, which was involved in the processing of interview data, also said that the fair sex is most popular in Italy.

Most visitors (58 percent) indicated that they were satisfied with their work. The greatest pleasure from the profession in Italy comes from the Philippines and Moldova. Ukrainians and Chinese, on the contrary, admitted that the process of making money is very burdensome for them. The Istat report did not indicate why it was the foreigners who were happier in Italy than the inhabitants of the country themselves, but several more recent studies have revealed some features.

So, for example, in July, the European Statistical Agency found that people from other countries living in the country of wine and sun are more successful in finding work than citizens of Italy. It is also worth noting that this trend was most clearly manifested precisely on the Apennine Peninsula, while in other European countries the opposite pattern is observed. About 62 percent of Italians of working age in July were provided with work, which slightly exceeds the number of Italians working (59.5 percent).

Moreover, the fact that recently foreigners have been actively getting into the Italian services sector due to their desire to work and remarkable energy has been noticed. The number of new enterprises opened by representatives of other countries amounted to 44 percent of the total number of firms and companies registered in Italy between April and June. “Immigrants are willing to take risks and are willing to work tirelessly,” said Indra Perrera, head of the Roman branch of the National Confederation of Artisans, Small and Medium Enterprises (Confederazione Nazionale dell'Artigianato e della Piccola e Media Impresa ( CNA)).

By the way, the results of another study, which was conducted last year, turned out to be rather sad. According to the data received, Italians are one of the most miserable nations in Europe. Italy, a country with a wonderful climate, marvelous atmosphere, amazing nature and excellent cuisine, was behind countries such as South Korea, Chile, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman. The study showed that the happiest people in the world live in Denmark, the second place in the ranking went to Norway, the third to Switzerland, followed by the Netherlands and Sweden.

In total, there were 156 countries in the rating, and the results were calculated in accordance with the scale of satisfaction of nations in such areas as health, family, job stability, as well as the country's policy.
