Expo 2015 in Milan

The World Exhibition 2015 (the Italian name is Esposizione Universale Milano 2015), or, in short, Expo 2015 (Expo 2015) will be held in the Italian city of Milan from May 1 to October 31, 2015.

The main theme of the event is "Feed the planet. Energy for life." The main idea is that all the inhabitants of the planet should be provided with high-quality and healthy products in the required quantity. The exhibition includes a series of thematic discussions and seminars on traditional and innovative food technologies. Each participating country will present its own exhibition related to the theme of Expo 2015.

General information

On March 31, 2008, Milan was chosen as the city where Expo 2015 will be held. The Turkish city of Izmir also claimed the same title, but Milan won the vote with 85 votes. Izmir with 65 votes remained in 2nd place.

The organizer of the World Exhibition in Milan is a specially formed joint-stock company called Expo 2015 S.p.A. The head office of the company is located at 2 Rovello Street.

According to the organizers of the event, 144 states, 3 international organizations and 11 non-governmental organizations will take part in it. The expected number of visitors who will be interested in the exhibition is more than 20 million people. Italian travel companies are already forming packages of services, which include a visit to the Expo in Milan. They conclude cooperation agreements with the organizers, after which they receive the right to use its official logo and distribute tickets.

On the territory of 1.7 million square kilometers, 60 pavilions will be built, divided into 4 categories - A, B, C, D - depending on size. Some countries, including Russia, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, have requested a separate pavilion, while others - like most African countries - will present their expositions at the joint venues. Following the results of the exhibition, the international jury awards prizes for the best exposition and the best disclosure of the main theme of Milan-Expo.

The objectives of the exhibition:

  • drawing public attention to global issues in modern life;
  • solving important international issues related to the subject of the exhibition;
  • demonstration of the achievements of each participating country in different industries;
  • international exchange of experience and achievements;
  • establishing international relations;
  • development of new concepts and technologies of the industry, to which the exhibition is dedicated.

Pavilion of Russia

The delegation from Russia will go to the exhibition in Milan under the motto "Growing for the good of the world. Cultivating for the good of the future." The main theme of the Russian exposition is declared food safety.

The Russian pavilion will occupy an area of 4170 square meters. The purpose of his exposition is to show the cultural and ethnic diversity of the country, the wealth of its resources and, as a result, the wide possibilities in the production of unique, high-quality, safe and affordable food. The Russian exposition will not be without great scientists who have contributed not only to scientific activity, but also to various industries, including food.

1.1 billion rubles were allocated from the state budget for Russia's participation in the World Exhibition 2015. For comparison: in 2012, Russia spent about 370 million on participation in the Expo. The cost includes:

  • development of a layout on which the pavilion will be built;
  • creating a script for the opening of the exposition and the text of a tour of it;
  • production of exhibits;
  • directly the construction of the pavilion and bringing to it all the necessary communications (at Expo 2012 Russia they provided a ready-made pavilion equipped with electricity, water and heating, so the cost of the arrangement was noticeably less).

The Russian pavilion will be located at the foot of the Mediterranean hill, next to the expositions of Japan, Estonia, Monaco, Slovakia, the united pavilion of African countries.
